Randy Jotte for County Council

Randy Jotte is running for election in the fall of 2010 for the St. Louis County Council 5th District seat.  The 5th District includes all or portions of Brentwood, Clayton, Crestwood, Glendale, Grantwood Village, Kirkwood, Ladue, Maplewood, Marlborough, Mackenzie, Oakland, Olivette, Richmond Heights, Rock Hill, Shrewsbury, University City, Warson Woods, Webster Groves, and unincorporated St. Louis County.  The seat was held for many years by Kurt Odenwald who is now a judge on the Missouri Court of Appeals.  The seat currently is held by Barbara Fraser who is running for the Missouri State Senate.

Randy Jotte is a St. Louis native, an emergency doctor, and an experienced public servant.  Randy recently served as a councilmember of the Webster Groves City Council and Webster Groves’ mayor pro tem.  Randy is intelligent, hard-working, and thoughtful. Randy approaches issues with a thorough investigation of the facts, an open-minded attentiveness to every position, and a dedication to reaching the best possible solutions for our community.  Through his work in local government and in his profession as an emergency physician, Randy is committed to improving the lives of the people of St. Louis.

As the next 5th District County Council member, Randy’s goals will be to:

  1. Establish fiscal responsibility in county government, requiring appropriate, reasonable and sustainable budgets.
  2. Institute a fair system of property assessment.  Randy believes we must eliminate the current financial relationship between the assessor’s budget and the assessed value of your home or business.  Randy also believes ALL market conditions should be considered when determining the value of your property for tax purposes, not just select comparables which elevate assessed values.
  3. Eliminate financial and operational problems at MetroLink as identified in the 2008 state audit, including inappropriate executive stipends, severance payments, and retroactive raises and mismanagement of capital projects.
